Many of the residents from their homes by floods expected to spend Christmas in temporary accommodation.

Forecast makers have said that the rain will alleviate much of Scotland. But with so much rain has fallen, the surface is likely to be a persistent problem.
At 22:00 pm on Christmas Eve, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) had 13 flood warnings.

These included parts of Aberdeenshire Kintore on, as well as many from rural Tayside.

In addition, flood warnings issued for Dundee and Angus, Fife, Central, Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.
